Video: Winter sturgeons released into the fjord, brought in new salmon

Four new wild salmon have moved into the tank at the visitor center.

We have recently released the thin winter rods into the sea. After catching herring they were in usable condition. We waved goodbye and hope they will return to The Lærdal River in a year or two.

The winter sturgeons have been replaced with four newly hatched salmon – shiny, fat and fine straight from the sea. They will remain at the center until spawning begins. Then we will release them into the river or deliver them to the local hatchery.

Visit us this summer and experience the fascinating life cycle of the Atlantic wild salmon. The center is open every day throughout the summer, from May 1st to September 30th.
