New fish in place for the season opening: Meet life in The Lærdal River at close range
On Friday, May 1st, the visitor center opens its doors for the season and preparations are well underway. We have been out in the river catching salmon and sea trout to show visitors!
In recent days we have been out catching both salmon and sea trout, which are now ready to meet the public. This provides a completely unique opportunity to experience the fish up close.
Did you know that salmon went up in The Lærdal River last year? They have survived spawning and have been in the river all winter without eating. They are long and slender. We call them kelts.
The sea trout feed in the river, and are rounder and fatter. If you come by, you can see them up close.
Visit us from May 1st to get to know the life beneath the surface of one of Norway's most famous salmon rivers.
