About threats, management and the future

What are the biggest threats to salmon?

In recent years, salmon populations in Norway have declined. In many rivers, salmon are protected. At the moment, this is also the case in Lærdal, but sea trout fishing is allowed. What are the biggest threats to salmon? In the exhibition, you can learn about the threats in text and pictures.

On an interactive map you can "swim" between rivers, fjords and seas and get an impression of where the various threats are. A film tells about status, with the development in Lærdalselvi as a picture of how things are. Another film depicts the relationship between wild and farmed salmon.

We present measures that help salmon, and that have worked. Among other things, measures against acid rain, the salmon parasite Gyrodactylus Salaris , humpback salmon and regulation of salmon farming. By using resources, it is possible to preserve salmon for future generations.
